The district's first Tour Tuesday was hosted by Truesdell Middle School and gave attendees the chance to see the challenges older buildings can bring.

Before students arrive each morning, teams across Wichita Public Schools are already moving — checking boilers, fixing leaks, cleaning hallways, troubleshooting systems, and solving problems before they become disruptions. Thanks to the custodians, engineers, and facilities staff who quietly keep our schools ready for learning every single day.

The Wichita Board of Education approved putting a two-question bond issue on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

Wichita Public Schools administration recommended a bond issue proposal to the Board of Education on Monday, May 4, 2026. The bond proposal focuses on long-term investments and improvements including rebuilding, remodeling and renovating facilities.

Thanks to the Assistance League of Wichita, WPS seniors are taking a big step toward their future. Fourteen seniors were recently awarded full-ride scholarships to WSU Tech and Butler Community College.

The North High School graduation ceremony will take place at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 14, at Wichita State Koch Arena.

We set a goal two years ago to increase our graduation rate and open more doors for our students’ futures. We didn’t just meet that goal — we exceeded it. The Class of 2025 was the largest graduating class in our history but our work doesn’t stop there.

Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld, Safety and Environmental Services Director Terri Moses and Hamilton principal Chad Cushenbery shared updates on recent facility investments that strengthen the security of our schools. Hamilton is one of five schools that received a new secured entrance this summer, marking the completion of districtwide upgrades to ensure every WPS school has a protected and welcoming entryway.
